Injured hiker rescued from Aztec Falls near Twin Peaks

A 23-year-old hiker was rescued by helicopter Sunday morning from the Aztec Falls area near Twin Peaks in the San Bernardino Mountains.

The man was hiking through steep terrain about 8:20 a.m. when he fell and was too injured to hike out of the area on his own, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The sheriff’s helicopter team responded to the area, found the hiker, and alerted an Air Rescue team to perform a hoist rescue, the news release said.

The man was placed in a rescue harness and flown to a hospital for treatment of his non life threatening injuries.
